This maybe was a short time ago, i just read about it today, anyone you
guys know? kinda sad thing :(

Harlan Scwartz, 77, of Two Rivers, Wis was killed whent he 1932 Alfa
Romeo that he was driving in the Mille Miglia collided with another
vehicle competing in the 1000-mile-long-event in Italy. After the
impact, the car left the road and hit a tree, killing Schwartz and
injring his 33-year-old daughter, Allessandra.
Scwartz was the owner of Schwartz Manufacturing Co. in Two Rivers.
Relatives said that he had purchased the Alfa Romeo in 1955 and spent
many years refurbishing it. He took the vehicle completely apart and
meticulously restored it from the frame up.
His cousin Stephen Schwartz of Mesa, Ariz., said that competing in the
Italian race was a higly anticipated experience. "The act of him
taking that car to Italy was the culmination of a dream," he said. "It
became the culmination of a life and death dream."
The Mille Miglia began as a high-speed motor rally and was later
revivied as a vintae racing event. Entrants this year included formula
1 legel Mika Hakkinen and Victor Emmanuel, the son of Italian royalty.
Stephen Schwartz said that, as far as he knows, Harlan's death may have
been the first fatality there in 77 years. - John Gunnell, Classic Motorsports.
