Ok, so someone tell me WTF is
going on!! PLEASE
I have a smoking engine, runs
well, just smokes. So I change
the head gasket (used Payen
AF470) but upon re-assembly,
the car runs very roughly.
After some brainstorming, I
notice the the #4 intake valve
is too tight. I back it off as
far as I can, and now the car
runs smoothly again. The
smoking decreased, but still
smoked when the engine reached
slightly above 3,000 rpm
(cruising speed of course).
At the advice of a list
member, I decide to change the
gasket once again (used Payen
BK450), and upon re-assembly,
the car now runs very roughly,
AGAIN!! WTF!! #4 intake valve
is too tight, AGAIN!! I CAN
NOT back the screw off, as it
ALREADY was backed off as far
as it would go last time. I
had checked to see if there
was something down the hole to
the lifter, but nothing was
there.
So, someone PLEASE tell me
what the hell happened.
Can changing the head
gasket.......
A. increase the lift on a cam
lobe
B. increase the height of a
solid lifter
C. increase the length of a
push rod
D. all of the above.

Does anyone out there have one
of those after market carbon
fibre pushrods that they are
not using that they would part
with. I would like to have one
to shorten about 1/4" to use
in #4 intake. Also, I am
guessing that there is no way
to pull the rocker assembly
without having to change the
head gasket AGAIN??
Damn, this is driving me nuts!

Brad
