Awesome!

Let me tall all of you; Every race location uses
volunteer marshals. The US F1 Grand Prix is a
little odd in that the IMS has its own employees
so the number of marshal positions is pretty
restricted. The other venues are much more open.

Fellow Spridgets list member Eric Erickson and I
are volunteer marshals - and rabid F1 fans. Eric
works races all over Australia, including being
a communications marshal for teh Australian F1
Grand Prix. Unfortunately, work commitments are
keeping him in Adelaide this year.

I am a track marshal for CAMS but I too have
commitments this year that have prevented my
envolvement in the Australian race. BTW, if you
ever wanted to get into this, just go to the CAMS
web site and volunteer. They use hundreds of
volunteer marshals. Here's the way I look at it:
>From the U.S. its about $1000 to get to Melbourne.
A place to stay will be a few bucks more. The
guys in the gold grandstands are paying that much
just for the tickets!!! We get in free and we
are ON THE TRACK!

I also work the US F1 Grand Prix. 2005 will be my
third year to work the PIT/GRID assignment. Last
year, my son joined me on the grid as we worked
the whole race weekend together. Fantastic!!!

Here's how to get involved:

Step 1) Imagine that you can get involved.
Step 2) Volunteer.
Step 3) There is no step 3.

Best regards,

rick
