Sorry to hear about your wife, I know the feeling, but he wasn't 3  
ft..... never mind

Anyway, Why not put antifreeze in?? Water is a BIG corrosive agent.  
antifreeze stops most of that. Under no set of circumstances ever put  
distilled water in. YOu want corrosion?? Distilled water is the way  
to go. I am not talking about build up of minerals, but diltilled  
water has no mineral and will leach ions (basically metal) out of the  
block. Antifreeze stops most if not all of that leaching. There are  
others on the list that can give a better chemical analysis of the  
actual reaction that leaches metal from the block and into the water.  
Also when you have different metal in solution (aluminum, iron,  
copper etc) you get more reactions.  Basically, do not use distilled  
water, you calcium water is better and antifreeze is best, unless you  
are draining and refilling on a regular basis, and I am not at all  
sure of that.
