Some has probably said this.... But "Plain Text" does not have "italics" or
"bold"
That is why you see people put *asterisks* around words to emphasize a word
as bold or italic.
My guess is, if you have the option to italicize a word, it automatically
converts your plain text to HTML or RICH TEXT format, which Mark's machine
is rejecting
