As I understand it...

...the original Frogeye/Sprite sway bar was
an Austin-Healey factory option. The A-frame mounting plate looked almost 
exactly
like the lower front mounting plate for a
Wheelrite front tube shock conversion....

....a plate with two holes at either end, the
fitting for sway bar end mounted in the middle of that plate.

The later factory bar (which became standard equipment at some point in time/
production) was the type that came with my '74 RWA Midget and for which front 
of the A-frame was pre-drilled for.....

....a three-hole plate which incorporated a descending arm pointed toward the 
center
of the car (inwards) called a "drop-link"
onto the end of which ended in a fitting
for the swaybar end.
