For what it's worth, I use ATF in my 1500's HS4s and have had no
problems.

Lessee.....

"Thinner" will make for "faster" air valve action BUT provide a leaner
mixture
for acceleration....which may make "faster"
air valve action academic in terms of
"performance".

"Thicker" will provide for "slower" air valve
action but "richer" mixture on acceleration,
which may actually improve "performance".

What to do????? Which way do I go???? Does the book help???? NO! It's
says merely to use the oil you've got in the crankcase!!!
Thanx a lot!!! Great effing help!!! ("reinstallation is the reverse of")
I use the Moss oil made for the purpose or
3 & 1 if I run out of the Moss stuff (small
bottle lasts a long time). Moss stuff "looks"
no thicker than 20 wt., maybe even a tad
lighter. It is however, a very neat shade of blue and thus, a very
attractive oil, as oils
go. :)
