Revolution wheels

I picked up six revolution wheels at Carlisle Friday.  All six have two
small holes on each side of each spoke.  Aprox 1/32".  

The guy selling them said they were manufactured that way.  I have my doubts
and thought someone might know.  

The holes are all in the same position on the flatter outside part of each
spoke.  I know Jacques LeClainche had them on his bugeye racecar but I can't
find his website anymore.
