Yes, it worked!!
And it is now bone stock and standard.
I ran it on the garage floor for 1 solid hour and it ran at normal temp.
I blocked off the rad for a few minutes and ran it up to 210 and removed
the cardboard to watch the temp go back down.
All was perfect.
We put it in the Mini, as it was on the floor, the only changes were the
wires to the coil were now part of the car's harness and not jumper
leads. Now the car runs at 230*.
So It's the body of the car and not the engines.
No grille, no bonnet, and it cooked in under 2 miles.
So tonight we hacked up the front end to install an oil cooler AND
another small front facing radiator. Some plumbing work and we got it
down to 190*
Again, t/stat, no stat, bigger pulley, stock pulley, It was perfect
outside the car. Must be a ghost because there is absolutely no other
reason for a completely new engine and cooling system to run fine on the
floor but cook in the car.
It will be in the PA rally, 3 hours there, 4 hours rallying, 3 hours
back. If it blows up, he gets a Sprite ;)

So now when I have a spare 1275 block, I'll spend 10 minutes doing a bit
of machining and call it a Mini block so I can get $1200 for it instead
of $100.
