Update! Drive home from work - Tach acted it normal self. Don't have a
clue what happened or why. We'll see how long it lasts.

My tach on the 71. On the way to work this morning everything indicated
fine. Just ran down to the store, started the car, tach zoomed up to 3000
rpm and idled there. The engine idle was normal, about 950 - 1000. As I
drove, the tach response was slower than usual. I shifted like always at
about 5000 to 5500 by engine sound not by the tach, but the tach was reading
5000 - 5500 rpm.
What is up with the tach? Any thoughts.
