Oh, I wouldn't doubt the 15" Triumph wheel weighs that much... seems about
right.

And yes, they burn like sparklers.

In the big crash at LeMans in '55, much of the carnage other than shrapnel
was burning magnesium bits (and fuel).

OK, then that about fits with what the owner said of the wheels I saw.  He
said they weighed 6 pounds each.  When I picked it up, I almost threw it
over my shoulder!  So it appears that the 12# wheels that are on EBay, might
not be magnesium then.  Possibly another buyer beware situation.

Many years ago I saw a semi truck at the bottom of the grapevine grade near
L.A. with a wheel on fire, not the tire, but the wheel.  Guess they were
magnesium.  Pretty color flames!
