BHT,
The original style jets as supplied by Salcorp (for whom I
worked for a few years) or SU Burlein are aesthetically pleasing with
the nylon tube inside the stainless spring and the colour coded
bands, but they DO have problems sealing well at the float bowl. They
can have an O-ring, 2 O-rings, or an HO slot car tire, with a brass
washer, a ferrule, and a gland nut, and still leak. Touching the
tube, or even looking at it hard, will cause it to leak.
A competitor to the above companies makes an ugly jet, that
uses regular-old 1/4" fuel line pressed onto a cheap plastic barb
fitting that self-seals into the float bowl, and pressed onto a cheap
looking plastic jet with an aluminium tube (with brass insert). BUT,
it works, and doesn't leak. Royze of California makes them.
I, and likely others, have them. Oh, and they aren't
handed.... one fits front or rear carb.
