Rick,
There is a book by Des Hammill on this very topic. The SU Carburettor
High-Performance Manual is available from Amazon for $19.77. I just got my
copy, so I cannot say that it answers all my questions... yet. It certainly
does cover re-profiling needles in a systematic way.
