Instead of spending money on the optional ABS over the past several years, I 
instead was treated to driving school w/ Skip Barber at LRP.  But I knew the 
day would come when tech would catch up to me.  My new F250 has ABS.  I think 
it's standard now.  No need to test it yet.

In fact, ABS equipped cars tend to have longer stopping distance on  
dry pavement. Not sure about ice, never owned a car that had it.

It's only function, AFAIK, is directional control and control in a  
panic stop. It serves no other function, it certainly is not about  
stopping shorter.
