I debated buying a new harness for the Morris truck I'm making, but then
figured that with all the changes I intended to make, I'd just end up cutting
up the new one as well. so here's what I did:

I stapled the harness to a sheet of plywood in the basic layout of the truck.
A black marker line denoted the firewall. I stripped away all the rotted
cloth wrap and zip-tied the bundles as I went. Using a staple gun (directed
carefully away from the knees....) I stapled each wire end to the board next
to a paper label on the board identifying the wire. It took about an hour.

Then I made all desired modifications to the harness, wiper and headlight
relays, additional 2-fuse block, 1-wire alternator(eliminated all voltage
regulator wiring), extra fused circuits for radio and device port(cigarette
lighter), extra fuel pump wire to back of truck in case I go that way. I used
correct color wire for all mods so the smart-axxed s.o.b. that gets it after I
die can't call me a DPO.

I plan on powering up the harness tonight and testing the relay circuits while
its still on the board. If all checks out, I'll be re-wrapping the harness in
black cotton bicycle handlebar tape. Sure the red tracer threads are missing,
but $300 is a lot for red threads.

It cost a LOT less than a fully modified British Wiring harness and will
definitely be EXACTLY correct for this vehicle.

Best part, the board was leftovers from the Holy Sprite trailer. Also, after
you get to the end of the process, you develop an understanding of the English
wiring color code. It actually sort of makes sense.

Regards,
Glen
