I've been saying the same for nearly a decade, John. I was living in England
at the
time of the change from BMC to British Leyland. The Brits tried to put a
brave smile
on - still referring to their identiboxes as MG, Morris, Austin, Riley,
Wooseley, etc.
but it was pretty clear that the British auto industry under government
control was
on the slow slide into the $hitter due mainly to bureaucratic incompetence.
Since those in this country seem to be singularly blind to the history of
government
control through social democracy I guess we are doomed to repeat the debacle
while a few of us stand sobbing on the sidelines for want of what might have
been.
