Monty,
There should be a small (1/16"?) roll pin at the base of the knob that
you have to drive out to get the knob off. After that you should be able
to unscrew the knurled nut. There's a special spanner sold for just that
nut, but a small hammer and screwdriver should allow you to tap it
round.
