The ONLY thing I am interest in on this car is the engine...
For the rest of the "work" on the car, my mind comes up with the phrase "MY
EYES! MY EYES!" as I cover them. ;^)

And yes, that includes the transmission since it is a part of the engine.
You have to split the engine cases to get at the transmission.
So if my brain is working correctly (it isn't... had surgery yesterday and
still recovering from it) the Goldwing 1500 engine has more horsepower and
torque than the 1275/1500 engines in Spridgets (stock) and weighs less
(engine and transmission together). It is WIDE though (30.1") and that
makes it interesting to fit between the fenders without cutting (a very
quick measurement of my tub showed ~ 29.x" between the front of the
fenders.)
Another interesting thing is that the transmission is under the engine so
hardly anything from the engine/transmission would be in the tunnel! Just
the driveshaft from what I determine.
Another thought, this engine/transmission moves a bike of ~ 800 lbs with two
riders, figure ~ another 350 lbs for a total of 1150 lbs and I have seen
them built as a trike pulling a trailer! That cannot be much less (if not
more) than a Spridget weight.

The GL1100 service manual lists the engine weight as 238 pounds. I'm
not a motorcycle guy, I don't know if that figure includes the gearbox??
