[Spridgets] Fitting a coolant drain tap...

Can a drain tap (stop cock) be fitted to the side of the 1275 block??
I'd like to be able to drain just a bit of coolant instead of the 
whole lot when messing around with thermostats and pulling the 
head...

If so..
a) where on the block can it go ??  and,
b) what is the thread I need??
