But that ignores the entire purpose of shutting off the supply of fuel
in the event of a roll-over accident or some such. The concept being
that there has been a catastrophic situation, the fuel pump is still
running because the key is on, potentially supplying fuel to a fire or
inviting a fire by pumping fuel into a hot engine compartment. In
effect, the stock arrangement of the electric pump is that it is
triggered by the low side of the ignition coil ;-)
