Sounds to me like you're getting EMP from ladybug..
Perhaps Electro Magnetic Pulses from the ignition system of the
ladybug are overloading the front-end of the radio...
Check the grounding on the ignition system, exhaust pipe and also
perhaps a bypass capacitor on the antenna.
Do you have shielded ignition wires and cap on ladybug.?
Is the coil can well grounded?
