I have a different but also distressing problem: My winter boots are too
wide for my wife's car, so I can push on the brake and accellerator at the
same time. When you are trying to stop and the car surges forward, the
natural reaction is to push harder, which causes a bigger surge. Once I
even bumped a car in a parking lot while the owner was standing there
watching - very embarrassing. (Fortunately, no damage.)
