A cam-driven mechanical pump mounted in front of the boot would require a 
really long lever.  :-)

Lin - you're mistaken.  All 948cc and 1098cc Sprites up to 1964 came from 
the factory with a cam-driven mechanical pump mounted on the front left of 
the engine under the front carb.
