When I changed out the smooth case to a rib case I lost my speedo. The
cable will turn the speedo when attached to an electric drill. . but does
not want to "shake hands" with the gear box. It is tightened in as far as
it will go.
So I would take from this that I need a different cable, ie. one that will
match the rib case gear box. . and also match the back of the speedo dial.
I guess that the smooth case cables had a different engagement situation as
they are screwed into the gear box compared to the rib case.
Or. . I could hook my cordless drill up to it and attach a vacuum line from
the engine to pull the variable speed trigger on the drill. . and try to
dial it in so that it is as close as possible to the correct speed?
Probably be easier to replace the cable. .
