My father-in-law worked on the full scale ones during WWII. A couple of
months ago for his 92nd birthday we went round the RAF aircraft museum at
Cosford where they have half a dozen or so or these things in various states
of assembly. After a little prompting about difficulties with this engine
he started reminiscing and pointing out the service problems and design
hiccups. It ended up with him giving a 'masterclass lecture' to the
curators and others who gathered round. A really great chap, proud of him.
