Hi Alan,
I think there may just be enough spline length to do that, but the axles will
probably hit the pinion cross shaft first. If you use longer studs in the rear
hubs it wouldn't be difficult to machine an axle spacer though.

There was a concern about the length of the axles and not engaging to the

I am working with a situation that might lead to going the other way ,
meaning
using solid rimed axles in a wire wheeled banjo
Is it safe to say that the solid axles are longer and therefore may not fit
in
a narrower wire wheeled banjo?

Just taking a look at doing something and later finding out it won't work
I plan to measure 2 axles at some point once I gather them up and can take
some comparisons side by side
