Did you take apart the differential or cleaned the bearings while in the
housing? When you say stick, is it like dried grease so spins but slow of does
it stop and ratchet?

What is the meaning of a well-oiled bearing that always sticks at rest, but
once moving turns freely?

I have just taken out two differentials. Both were turning freely when I took
them out; I flushed with kerosene, then degreaser; and re-oiled with engine
oil. Both seized completely when dry before re-oiling. One freed up
completely when oiled, and the other remains sticky at rest.
