I also had a Sears torque wrench that stopped working. It was engraved with  
"lifetime guarentee" they replaced it with a new one but told me all I get now 
is a 1-year guarantee.

Yeah, well they won't replace all their hand tools for free. I had a Sears
torque wrench just fall apart at the head. I could have reassembled it myself,
but I thought they would just replace it for free because it was a hand tool
and it said Sears on it.  The guy in the tool dept told me to go to the Sears
Outlet store across the street and they would take care of me. The outlet
store repairs Sears products as well as sells the at reduced prices. They told
me they would repair it for $60.  He'll, a new one was $68!  I still have not
replaced it 4 years later.
