Actually, the power industry has developed some very clever and efficient
ways of capturing and reusing the heat from the boilers. Their engineers and
designers understand that the more efficient they can make the process of
generating electricity with fossil fuel fired turbines the better their
profit margins become.

It seems to be popular to believe that the big energy companies are
profligate wasters of resources. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
They all invest large amounts of their profits in trying to find more
efficient ways to produce energy. It is to their benefit to do so.
