I use a pair of 1 by 4's eight feet long and sitting on cinder blocks.
Measure directly in front of the car then at the ends of the boards. Flip
them and measure again then  average the measurements to compensate for any
warpage in the boards.  Don't have to get under and it works plus I have the
boards on hand anyway.
