Hi Jess and Happy Spridget People,

Apologies if this information has been posted before.

I see in the Sep.2011 copy of MASCOT Magazine, published by the
UK based Midget & Sprite Club, that some guys in Germany have
produced a kit to fit a BMW E30 series 5-Speed box to a Spridget.
I understand that NO cutting of the body is required.

Several photos have been published of the conversion, and it looks neat
to me. I have no financial interest in this; just posting here as a service
to fellow Spridget people. Here are the quoted prices:-

COSTS (prices in Euro, ex-Works in Germany)

Adaptor plate f. engine and prop shaft (machined etc. + machined part
f. prop shaft + pilot bearing. E260
Bolts, nuts, brackets, rubber blocks f. gearbox and adaptor E35
CLUTCH: E210
Clutch plate, adapted for BMW gearing
Clutch cover, adapted for BMW clutch plate
    Clutch release bearing new
    Clutch slave cylinder used
Gear Lever: ring-bolts, machined sleeves, lever (without knob) E45
Prop shaft (new manuf. acc. to sample) E400
Flywheel fitted to clutch and balanced together E200
BMW Gearbox (used, tested by specialist) E350
BMW gearbox used (auction, scrap yard etc.) Estimate E150 or so.

Contact details for the German suppliers is:-

Heinz Schattner: e-mail: aconite@hotmail.de (in English or German)

Ruediger Wolters, e-mail: xs.wolters@t-online.de (only in German)

I have a Paul A. box in my Mk.1. Having a 5-Speed is a great
improvement on the standard 4-speed. Paul was a great guy, R.I.P.

As I said, NFI.
