Two types of Mini engines, the original cast iron block on the 2002-2006
Minis and the new aluminum engine on the 2007 cars onward. The original
engines on the "S" were supercharged and the new "S" engines are
turbocharged.
My supercharged 2006 Mini Cooper S gets about 29mpg combined with the
majority of the miles being freeway. I have almost 60K miles with no
problems, just change you oil every 5K miles NOT the 10-12K recommended by
the dealer. I always use premium gas.
