Me, Diane, and my daughter all snapped axles inside the diff at the splines.
Older non hardened axles twist off and are a PITA to get the 1.5" piece 
out. Later hardened axles snap clean and if you are lucky, you can pop 
out the 1.5 piece with a thin rod taped to a broom handle.
Or use a piece of aluminum lawn chair to poke out the stub when it 
breaks 3 hours from home.
