| Hutchinson, KS=C2=A0=E2=80=93 =E2=80=9CDuck=E2=80=9D Waddle, a former Spo=
rts Car Club of America racer and instructor who was a fixture at Elkhart L=
ake=E2=80=99s Road America for decades (and a friend to the=C2=A0VM=C2=A0eN=
ews editors), died Monday (March 18).
A statement from Road America said, =E2=80=9CThe entire staff at Road Ameri=
ca extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Gordon =E2=
=80=9CDuck=E2=80=9D Waddle, who passed away peacefully Monday morning in Hu=
tchinson, Kansas after a courageous battle with cancer.=E2=80=9D
A veteran of the United States Air Force and Marine Corps who raced and ins=
tructed for half a century with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and S=
kip Barber Racing School, Waddle=E2=80=99s career encompassed earning five =
divisional SCCA championships and=C2=A0one national SCCA championship.
=E2=80=9CDuck was a fixture at Road America for decades, making it his home=
away from home during the season. He was admired and revered by racers and=
driving enthusiasts the world over for his wealth of experience behind the=
wheel and always having a funny story to tell at the end of the day. A gen=

In a 2015 interview with the=C2=A0Sheboygan=C2=A0(Wisconsin)=C2=A0Press,=C2=
=A0Waddle commented about Road America: =E2=80=9CI started teaching here in=
1987 and it=E2=80=99s been my summer home ever since. I get to sleep and l=
ive on the property. It=E2=80=99s great, but the best part is the atmospher=
e and the people. The attitude here at Road America is to =E2=80=98get it d=
