     Interesting discoveries:

Those of you with stock distributor setups, with the metal pipe
feeding the vacuum advance canister, might be interested to know that
the pipe, and the thread, are the same size as the brake pipes. That
way, if you want to check the vacuum canister for leaks, you don't
have to cut the pipe. I had a short piece of brake pipe left over, so
I threaded it in and hooked my vacuum tester to it. I checked for
leaks in this junction by dribbling a bit of the children's bubble
     juice over the connection.

Now, the bad news. The diaphragm in my vacuum canister leaks like a
sieve. This is the first time I checked it, so I don't know how long
it's been this way. The Tiger has the greatest power to weight ratio
of anything I normally drive, so I might not have noticed the
     performance difference.

Anyway, Where can I get a replacement? It's a stock Mk 1A, assembled
in the fall of '66? Does anyone have an aftermarket part number, or a
Ford part number a dealer won't laugh at? Does Rick or anybody else
have anything? Is it adjustable? (The one for my '78 Mercury was
adjustable, was adjusted wrong, and came with no paperwork describing
what to do. Luckily, a friend at work knew what to do to get rid of
     the knock).
