Of course, you could always put a wad of chewing gum on the end of 
the magnetic stick!

Here's one more:

JACK STANDS: devices which prove that sheet metal is not of sufficient
strength to hold the weight of a vehicle (the proof coming when you
don't move the stands far enough away before letting the hydraulic
floor jack down...).  See also HYDRAULIC FLOOR JACK.
