Only the Pontiac ran the rear transaxle in conjunction with a "rope"
driveshaft.  Olds and Buick had the standard issue live axle.

The Pontiac was very similar to, and had the same basic problem as the unit
in the first generation Corvair. It employed swing axles, and was prone to
"jacking up" in the rear when pushing it hard through corners, making for
some very "interesting" handling.
