I get the impression that most of you cats are pretty much on top of your car's
maintenance needs. Not like me...
Winter: No heater core, ergo, no heat.
Summer: find used heater core for 35 bucks, install it and bypass leaky
heater control valve. Heater runs all summer long, even across the desert to
Las Vegas. Winter: Replace heater control valve, bypassing heater which
appears to have developed a leak. No heat all winter.
Summer: evaluate heater, find that it's okay, but old hose is pooping out.
Replace hose with wrong length. Too short to reach heater control valve.
Heater on all the time, all summer long.
Winter: new heater hose, reaches heater control valve. Heater is fully
functional. Car is now in Arizona. I'm not.
