Air Bags

I'm pleased to report that my car is not equipped with dangerous air bags.

Has anyone given any thought to requiring  _competency_  and a safe driving
record as a means for determining who gets a license?  Seems to me we could
reduce insurance costs, highway deaths and injuries, and do away with many
superfluous (and occasionally dangerous) safety features in automobiles IF the
people driving them weren't dangerous.

Sure is strange.
