Missunderstood...

I have not done any TAC bashing, hope no one has taken it as so.  I have only
tried to ask a few simple questions (may have gotten kind of wordy) to get
people to think.  First some background, I have a real tiger body (I hope) very
little rust so this whole discusion realy doesn't apply to me.

I think TAC certification would be OK, if they published what they inspected. 
I don't have a problem with a 3 person comittee passing judgement on my car. 
But as any jurry goes I should get a published list of the rules first.

This is NOT about...
        -original rivets
        -someones integrety
        -anything personal

This is about...
        -saving tigers
        -what is legeal
        -what parts does a tiger have to have to still be a tiger

So if switching vins is illegal.
        -Why aren't those people buying MG body shells being arrested?
                And is it still an MG?
                Or is it that it doesn't matter because there were so 
                many made?
        -Why is it that almost any clasic/antique car mag I pick up talking
                about someone doing a complete rebuild of the car, replacing
                everything, and still calling it the same car, and it is
                still worth millions?
        
The way I see it a tiger lies somewhere between the first and last of these
restoration choices purely based on produciton numbers (this is what makes a 
car a collector).

Maybe lets ask the question a different way...  This tiger is completely rusted
out so I replaced everything in front of the fire wall.  However after that I
replaced everything behind the fire wall, so now my tiger is solid and safe.
Or the other guy who says I took the firewall out of my tiger and put it in an
alpine body and still call it a tiger. 
        Who did a rebodie?
        Who restored a tiger?
Again is anyone who goes to all this trouble doing it for profit, or to save a
tiger?  (think about how much it would cost in terms of labor and parts, then
the value of a tiger)  I don't think there is a need to question there
integrity.  So if they aren't doing it for profit, then why keep the TAC
inspection points a secret?
        -obvioulsy I don't care if someone rebodies a Tiger if it is 
                done right.  (others do it all the time, and still
                call ***insert marque here*** original)
        -what if I get carried away in my rebuild and break a few welds,
                weld something solid instead of with spot welds.  Take
                the dash completely out and rewire everything slightly
                different?  Fix something I thought was broke.  
                WHAT IF I SCREW MYSELF?  (sure some people would like to
                see that at this point).

My last words on this debate, some people see things different.
