I was somewhat dubious of the gell-cell tech. too.  I'm an electrical
engineer and knew that previous gell cell designs had poor high discharge
characteristics due to bubbles forming on the plates, reducing surface area
and the bubbles couldn't be back-filled due to the gell suspension material.
 This problem aside, the capacity issue may have been overcome by increasing
the plate surface area.  I don't know.  Try calling Optima in Denver CO.

All I know is in the coldest cold, hotest hot and prolonged use, two Optima's
far out performed the stock GM batteries (forgot manuf.) in my diesel
application,  Die hards (not-so-hard) and the most expensive batteries
battery exchange sold .  As I said, the Suburban really did eat batteries -
average lifespan 5 years.

Boy, it sounds like I have stock in the darn company.  The reason the Optima
is in the Tiger is for its no-leak feature!
