Tigers,
Just replaced clutch master and slave units with new Girling parts. The
slave cylinder was GIR 3010224. List $112.50, my cost $79.95. The master
cylinder was GIR 64067730 (3112258). List $109.50, my cost $74.95. The
supplier was All Car Parts, LTD, North Holywood CA. (818) 984-1999. Ask
for Tom (he's got a beautiful Big Healy) and tell him I referred you and
you'll get my discount. They are part of the Beck-Arnley group. They
also have the re-build kits, but make sure you get the Red Rubber
Girling grease in the package.
The only problem is that Lucas (Girling) has been "rationalizing" all
their spares, so that they apply to more vehicles with less part
stocking numbers. In this case, the clutch master cylinder had a plastic
top, like the brake M/C, so I used the old one. Both fit. The other
issue is the actuating arm. They supply a threaded rod, a separate
clevis, and some locking nuts. No matter how you install it, it's too
long for the Tiger. I simply removed the circlip holding the pushrod
stud in, and removed it. Took the new boot and stretched it over the old
one-piece fork/washer/rod and reattached circlip. I didn't use any
lubicant, but it may make it easier. Like installing a new shift boot
over the existing knob and lifter "T", it doesn't look possible, but
that hole can get pretty big when stretched.
Added some accordian cap inserts in both the clutch and brake master
cylinders to keep air from the fluid surface, like the American cars.
Tiger Technologies had these made, and they work well keeping the
moisture out.
Rick's price, (Sunbeam Specialties) was HP26T Clutch slave $73.18,
Clutch M/C HP25T $94.05. I would have bought them from him, as he needs
our continued support to keep in business, but this was an emergency and
I needed it immediately. Otherwise, I buy from Rick because his parts
are very good, his service is excellent, he's got stuff nobody else has,
and he won't carry anything that doesn't meet his high standards.
