The question was (is) how fast could the LeMans Tigers have gone with good 300Hp 289s instead of 260s? Well if the 300HP is flywheel HP and the tranny and differential efficiencies are 95% each, then terminal speed would have been about 165 mph. If the 300 Hp is rear wheel, then top speed would have been about 170 mph. At high speeds, small speed increases require LOTS more horsepower!!! |
