Allan,

There may actually be a reasonable solution to your friends Jag situation. I
have seen so many great looking Jag Sedans, only to find that
someone has installed a Chevy 350 in it for "reliability". What the heck is he
doing buying a British car if he wanted "reliability". Where is
the excitement, the "joi de vie", of not knowing what to expect next. BORING.

Anyway, somewhere there is a hardly used Jaguar 6 removed from this sedan, just
waiting to be removed from the back of a garage (owner
or converter) for a song. A few intimate changes in cam shafts or carburetors
might be necessary to get the correct E configuration, but it
just might be a lot cheaper than "un-welding" the current one (which may have
the necessary "stripped" parts, anyway).

He could call Moss Motors, Goleta, CA., and ask for motor conversion
references. They would probably know them, and accommodate for the sales
potential of new parts from the restorer.
