Steve Laifman and anybody else trying to install a headliner:

Here is my chance to finally return the favor and give you some useful
advise for a change. At least I hope it is useful. I finally got my
headliner installed today. First, I must admit I didn't do it myself,
rather I paid someone to do it. It was done by an old Cajun upholsterer
named Jerry Jagneaux (that's Jag'-no for those of you not familiar with
Cajun names). He was highly recommended as the only one in town to entrust
with the project, and I had to wait a month for Jerry to get to it, but he
did a bang-up job. What Cajuns often lack in education, they usually make
up in skills handed down from father to son. You would never know Jerry
never saw a Tiger in his life before mine. Anyway, I will attempt to
describe the method he used as best I understand it.

Start by inserting the headliner and wires into the hardtop. Next,
beginning in the middle, gently stretch (not too tight) the headliner and
clip it to the sides, working forward. When you get to the front piece,
fold the headliner under and clip it to the front piece. Once it is
properly positioned, the real fun begins. Undo everything you have done
except the last step where you clipped the headliner to the front piece.
Fold the headliner forward so it is upside down in front of the top. Now
you can rivet the front piece in place. Fold the headliner back in place
and begin the installation process again, this time for good. Yeah, this
is a British car allright.

I hope these instructions are clear, accurate, and useful, but they come
without warranty. If you are really interested I can put you in contact
with Jerry Jagneaux. I think he speaks excellent English, but I've had 14
years to tune my ear to the Cajun dialect.
