Brock,

Replacing a Tiger body with an Alpine body does not "save a Tiger".  This
process modifies the (surviving) Alpine.

Abandoning a Tiger body, even a rusty one, destroys a Tiger.

The course of action that you recommend actually reduces the number of
Tigers.
