The Tiger, speaking relatively to other available sports cars, was of
EXTREMELY GOOD build quality. No matter how you look at it: torsional rigidity
(one heck of a strong unibody), interior amenities and quality, trim,
reliablility of the drivetrain etc. etc. I would put the Tiger up against any
of its competitors. Think about it, Corvettes that were rattle traps right off
the showroom floor, Jaguars that were a pain in the axx to keep on the road,
Austin Healeys that were about as good (but no better). The only cars that
were roughly comparable that had better quality were the Porsche 911 and
Mercedes 250SL (which really was more of a chicks car). Keep in mind, this was
the mid-60s, when you were lucky to not have stuff fall of most of the new
cars being made.
