There is a light socket at the top of the speedometer, pull it out
and replace the bulb. If you want to increase the gage illumination,
this applies to any of the Smith gages;
1. Pull the gage out of the dash.
2. Remove the gage from it's case by carefully turning the chrome
bezel, remove the bezel, glass and gage.
3. The area where the bulb inserts into the case is painted light
blue, PAINT THIS AREA WHITE.
4. Assemble gage and install in the dash.
This will increase the illumination of the gage some.

The light on my speedometer is out. Now the gauge is just plain black
at night instead of merely very dim. And it isn't even made by Lucas.
Haven't even attempted to look under the dash yet. I figure somebody
out there in Tiger-cyber space has already fixed this problem and is
dying to tell me how to fix it.
BTW, still looking for that right rear window latch for a hardtop.
Anybody have any sources? I understand the Spitfire used the same
latch, but I don't have any sources on that side.
