Pen,

I, too, am insured with AAA (with photos), and have no
complaints.  You will notice, in your own examples, that the
cars Actual Cash Value were within the settlement range.
With a car that has a large range of values, and a lot of
semi-wrecks around, you would not have the same experience.
The photos help.  Keeping receipts and your own DATED photos
help as well.

My 'bad news' example is more typical of the Tiger
situation, and the typical insurance company.  You are also
fortunate that you were not at fault in one accident.  The
other 'at fault' insurer is bound by law to make you 'whole'
as you do not have a contractual relationship with them,
regardless of your arrangement with your own insurer.

Glad yours was good news, but it was not typical.
