Doug,

I bought an attachment set of tools for the standard flaring tool that pre
bulges
the tube.

The cost of this accessory kit is about $25-$30, with many sized ends for
different
tube sizes.

They are machined buttons with posts that extend into the tube ID, and are
pressed
by the normal screw point end, while the tubing is held in the standard tube
grip.
One extends the tube more, initially, to allow the correct material length, and
room for the bulge. The tubing looks like a 'bubble flare' (no guarantees as to
correct bubble dimension, however). This extra tip is then removed, and the
pointed screw point forces the 'bubble' to collapse into the "v" portion of the
tube that is supported by the 'V" portion of the clamp.

I have found that the cheaper flaring tools do not seem to have a strong grip on
the tube OD. This is even more evident in forming 'double flares', as the
forces
are higher. I have used a small (or large) external vice on the clamp to put
more
compression force against the tube clamp, instead of that wimpy clap at the
end..
